For those who might not know, Bettie Page is in the hospital. It looks like her health has turned for the worse and she currently is in a coma.
Bettie Page is one of my influences for my modeling, not in her looks perse (although she is fetching) but in her approachability. I know all too many models that for whatever reason could be the most beautiful physical being on the set, but sort of have this “do not disturb” sign above thier head. Is modeling really meant to be a distancing experience? I dont honestly think so and Bettie Page is someone I have that in common with.
Bettie Page did not think so either, appearing in Men’s magazines but also being down with helping photographers practice thier craft. She was less about being some sex symbol (although she is one like it or not) and more about just having fun. Despite her Xian revival, it looks like she never regrets her modeling days.
This video is one of the most recent clips of her (although she never appears on camera). Heres hoping she pulls through and her health improves.
